“Black Box” Cat-Switch

Basics

  • Each classroom is equipped with a Cat-Switch (we refer to them as the “Black Box”)
  • The Black Box is the master control center for all the sound and video in your classroom.
  • Source #1 Is your teacher computer.
  • Source #2 is available for a laptop/netbook ELMO/Document Camera or MP3 player.
  • Source #3 is for DVD / VHS players (keep in mind your computer acts as a DVD player for most of your needs)

Other things to keep in mind

  • When the Black Box is off, your projector AND ceiling speakers are both OFF.
  • The projectors have a bulb life of 1800 hours, when not in use please shut the projector off.
  • If you like to have music but not have the projector on all day, use the projector remote to turn the projector off.
  • If you do not have a projector remote and require one, please fill out a technology request.

Troubleshooting:

  • Most problems with the black can be fixed by re-seating it. Press both button 1 and 3 at the same time to reset the box.

Print and place the document below near your Black Box for a quick reference;
